What is Language Intelligence?

The ability to understand and use spoken and written language to express yourself effectively.

Language Intelligence was founded in 1988, with the goal of creating a people-friendly company to meet the foreign language requirements of global businesses.

Our President and CEO, Irene White, decided to name Language Intelligence during a German language lesson with a former student. The student repeatedly asked for the specific English meanings of German words and phrases, and Irena recognized that there wasn't always a direct translation. Because translation is much more than just reading and learning words on a page, Irena explained to her student that one must have

We are aptly named Language Intelligence because language fuels us. Our team of over 400 linguists, project managers, localization engineers, and quality management professionals work to foster an international environment to cross cultural divides.

After all, words are ambassadors. Let us help you communicate across the globe.

Using Language to Break Barriers and Bridge Cultural Gaps

Our Expert Translation and Localization Services

Building human connections requires more than just word-for-word translations. You'll need proper localization, which is the process of adapting content to the target language's culture and locale.

Localized content caters to multiple cultural differences, including a locale's history, customs, and societal preferences. It's our goal to create content that feels natural and familiar,  and our ISO-certified Quality Management System requires each project to use at least two native-speaking, in-country linguists with specialized industry experience. On top of that, you'll work with a dedicated project manager who will streamline the entire translation and localization process from start to finish.

Above anything else, we'll work together as a team.

In 1983, Harvard psychologist Howard Gardner proposed the theory of 8 multiple intelligences. Linguistic Intelligence is a human's ability to understand, speak, and write in a language.

A person with high Language Intelligence has a considerable grasp of multiple different linguistic components, including syntax, semantics, phonology, and pragmatics.

Linguistic Intelligence can also be described as :

  • a love for words,

  • learning a language quickly,

  • understanding grammar and sentence structure complexities,

  • enjoying reading,

  • having a rich vocabulary,

  • the capability to effectively explain complex concepts,

  • remembering the semantic meaning and subtle differences between words and word structure.

While the terms linguistic intelligence and Language Intelligence are different, they have one thing in common: being propelled by language. Language is in everything we do, and we are proud with what our experience can bring you.

No matter your content type, project complexity, or special requirements, our team has the Language Intelligence to make your message clear.

Since our inception in 1988 Language Intelligence has been following a documented Quality Management System. In 2009 we chose to certify our Quality Management System to the ISO 9001:2008 standard as proof to our customers of how serious quality assurance is to us as a company. We have since updated our certification to ISO 9001:2015, and we plan to continue to maintain certification moving forward.

We chose the ISO standard because we believe that it is the most comprehensive of all of the current guidelines and standards available to the translation industry, and because it is a standard that many of our customers are familiar with, or have implemented themselves.
